The CoalescE album reconciles a handful of old songs from my back catalog that were written in the 1990s with a handful of brand new songs written just this past summer. Reworking the old songs with the band during last winter was key to developing the sound that became a jumping off point for the new material. As a result, songs with origins separated by decades come together for single body of work…CoalescE.
The oldest song of the collection is called “Bits”. It was written in September 1995 while I was living in Nashville, TN. It’s one of my favorite original songs and it has followed me around over the years, making appearances in a variety bands. But it has never been properly recorded until now. This video includes a studio rough mix from a couple of the earliest sessions for CoalescE. – JM
